Proper care is important to make your clothes look great and last longer than other ordinary clothes. Maintaining your wardrobe shouldn't be too complicated or take forever, but it really will have a big effect on both how long your clothes last and on how confident you'll be in them. Following are some easy, effective tips on washing, drying, and storing your clothes.
Care Tips
Wear Longer, Wash Less
Washing clothes after every wear is often unnecessary. Most things, such as jeans, just need to be aired out and ironed. Spot-treat stains when necessary instead of frequent full washes. This not only conserves water and energy but also preserves color and fabric integrity.
Iron Inside Out
Most of the clothing does not need ironing if washed gently and carefully. If at all you must iron, opt for steaming to prevent fiber wear of the fabric. Iron your clothes inside out always, making it free from burns, stains, or dirt besides giving a longer life.
Turn Clothes Inside Out
Prevent damage from zippers and hardware, and prepare denim for ironing. Zip any zippers.
Optimize Load Size
Don't wash a single pair of jeans all by itself. Reserving water and energy usage is critical. In case you have an emergency pair to wash, it's fine, but combine loads for a full washer.
Sort by Color and Fabric
Proper sorting will also help you in maintaining your clothes' quality. At a minimum, it should be sorted by color, but to ensure the quality, sort also by type of fabric. You don't want to wash your jeans with other delicate clothes.
Treat Stains Immediately
If your garments get stained, treat them as soon as possible. Natural fibers, such as cotton, quickly absorb stains, hence making immediate treatment more effective. When stain removers are not available, use soap or a chlorine-free degreaser.
Choose Lower Temperatures
With modern washing machines and detergents, you'll be able to wash effectively at lower temperatures. Wash jeans at 30°C to reduce the pressure on your clothes and the environment. Always check garment labels for specific care instructions.
Dry Immediately
Dry clothes as soon as possible to avoid wrinkles, odors, and mold. Jeans hand-washed should be drained, allowed to drip, then dried. No wet garment should ever be left in a washing machine.
With these, expect your denim and other wearables to remain good-looking and last longer.
